Day 0: Arrival in Moshi
Welcome to Moshi! Upon arrival, our friendly team will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer you to your comfortable hotel. Enjoy a relaxing evening and a pre-climb briefing to prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Begin your journey through lush rainforests filled with exotic wildlife and vibrant greenery. Trek for 5-6 hours, soaking in the fresh mountain air as you make your way to Machame Camp, where you'll rest under the stars.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Leave the rainforest behind and venture into the scenic moorland zone. The hike offers breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau. After a 5-7 hour trek, arrive at Shira Camp, where panoramic vistas await.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
Experience the stunning alpine desert landscape and reach the iconic Lava Tower for acclimatization. Descend to Barranco Camp after a challenging but rewarding 7-8 hour hike.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Climb the thrilling Barranco Wall and enjoy the magnificent views. Hike through a beautiful glacial valley to reach Karanga Camp after 4-5 hours, with plenty of photo opportunities along the way.
Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Day 6: Summit Day - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, then Mweka Camp

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, Return to Moshi

The Machame Route is one of the more challenging routes on Mount Kilimanjaro, requiring a good level of physical fitness. Prepare yourself with regular aerobic exercise, hiking, and strength training to ensure you can handle the daily trekking hours, which range from 4 to 8 hours. Summit day is particularly demanding, involving a midnight start and trekking for 10-14 hours.
Guides and Support Team:
Kizza Adventures provides experienced guides who are knowledgeable about the route, altitude sickness, and safety protocols. Porters will carry most of your gear, so you only need to carry a daypack with essentials like water, snacks, and personal items. The team ensures your safety, comfort, and enjoyment throughout the journey.
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a friendly representative from Kizza Adventures will be waiting to greet you in the arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name or the company logo. They will assist with your luggage and organize a comfortable transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
