Lemosho Route 6-Day Climb Itinerary

Day 0: Arrival in Moshi and Briefing Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, and transfer to your hotel. Meet your guide for a detailed briefing and equipment check. Rest and prepare for your climb.

Day 1: Lemosho Gate to Big Tree Camp (2,100m to 2,800m) Begin your climb with a drive to Lemosho Gate. Complete registration and start your hike through lush rainforest. Reach Big Tree Camp for the night.
Elevation: 7,800ft to 9,500ft, Distance: 6 km, Hiking Time: 3-4 hours, Habitat: Rain Forest

Day 2: Big Tree Camp to Shira 2 Camp (2,800m to 3,900m) Ascend through moorland and the heather zone. Enjoy panoramic views of the Shira Plateau. Reach Shira 2 Camp near Cathedral Peak for rest and acclimatization.
Elevation: 9,500ft to 12,500ft, Distance: 18 km, Hiking Time: 8-10 hours, Habitat: Moorland

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (3,900m to 3,960m) Hike across the Shira Plateau and ascend to Lava Tower for lunch. Descend to Barranco Camp through the Barranco Wall, a thrilling section of the climb.
Elevation: 12,500ft to 13,000ft, Distance: 10 km, Hiking Time: 6-8 hours, Habitat: Semi Desert

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (3,960m to 4,035m to 4,600m) Climb the Barranco Wall and traverse Karanga Valley. Continue to Barafu Camp for dinner and rest, preparing for the summit push. Enjoy views of Mawenzi and Kibo.

Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp (4,600m to 5,895m to 3,100m) Begin your ascent before midnight. Reach Uhuru Peak at dawn, witnessing sunrise over Kilimanjaro. Descend to Mweka Camp, reflecting on your achievement.
Elevation: 15,300ft to 19,345ft (and down to 10,000ft), Distance: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent, Hiking Time: 7-8 hours/ascent, 4-6 hours descent, Habitat: Arctic

Day 6: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure (3,100m to 1,640m) Descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi. Celebrate your success before departure.

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.


Cancellations

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
