EXPERIENCE KILIMANJARO MACHAME ROUTE 8-DAYS
DAY 1: Arrival in Moshi
Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins upon arrival in Moshi, where you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After checking in and refreshing. Your guide will go over the itinerary, equipment, and safety protocols, ensuring you are prepared for the climb. Afterward, you’ll enjoy a welcome dinner and spend the night at the hotel, getting well-rested for the trek ahead.
DAY 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
After breakfast, you will drive to Machame Gate (1,800 meters) to officially begin your Kilimanjaro climb. After completing the registration process, you’ll start your trek through the lush rainforest. After a 5-7 hour hike, you’ll arrive at Machame Camp (3,000 meters), where you’ll settle in for the night. Your team will prepare a warm meal, and you can rest under the stars in your tent.
DAY 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
You’ll continue your ascent after breakfast, leaving the rainforest and entering the moorland zone. The trail becomes steeper as you make your way to Shira Camp (3,840 meters), but you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of Mount Meru and the surrounding landscape. Upon arrival at Shira Camp, you’ll have time to relax, acclimatize, and enjoy a hot meal before settling in for the night.
DAY 4: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
Today’s trek will take you higher as you ascend to Lava Tower (4,630 meters), an important point for acclimatization. The hike takes 6-8 hours in total, and you’ll pass through the stunning Barranco Valley, surrounded by dramatic cliffs. You’ll spend the night at Barranco Camp.
DAY 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Today’s trek involves the famous Barranco Wall, a challenging yet rewarding climb that requires some scrambling. Upon arrival at Karanga Camp, you’ll have a warm meal and enjoy some downtime, preparing for the final stages of the trek.
DAY 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
After breakfast, you’ll begin the ascent to Barafu Camp (4,640 meters), the base camp for your summit attempt. The trek takes about 4-5 hours and leads you through rocky and barren landscapes. In the late evening, your guide will brief you on the summit attempt, which will begin around midnight.
DAY 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Mweka Camp
Around midnight, you’ll begin your summit attempt, trekking through the darkness with headlamps. The trail is steep and challenging, but the reward of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) at sunrise is unforgettable. You’ll then continue descending to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters), where you’ll spend the night after a long and rewarding day.
DAY 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
After breakfast, you’ll begin your final descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640 meters), which takes about 3-4 hours. Upon reaching the gate, you’ll receive your Kilimanjaro certificates and celebrate your successful climb with your team. This marks the end of your 8-day Kilimanjaro Machame Route trek.
