EXPERIENCE KILIMANJARO HIKING: MACHAME ROUTE 2-DAYS ITINERARY

DAY 1: Moshi to Machame Gate to Machame Camp
The journey begins with an early morning drive from Moshi to Machame Gate, where you'll complete the registration process for the trek. From here, you’ll embark on a challenging but exhilarating hike through the lush rainforest, surrounded by towering trees and a canopy of dense foliage. As you make your way up the steep, often muddy trail, the sounds of wildlife and the fresh mountain air will invigorate your spirit. After about 5-7 hours of trekking, you’ll arrive at Machame Camp (2,835 meters), located at the edge of the rainforest. The evening will be spent enjoying the stunning mountain views and resting for the next day.

DAY 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp and Descent to Machame Gate
On the second day, you’ll leave Machame Camp and begin a steady ascent out of the rainforest into the heather and moorland zone. The landscape opens up with rocky terrain and stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s peak in the distance. After several hours of trekking, you’ll reach the scenic Shira Plateau and Shira Camp (3,750 meters). Although the goal isn’t to summit, this day provides a rewarding sense of accomplishment as you reach this higher altitude. After a short break, you’ll begin your descent back to Machame Gate, retracing your steps through the varied terrain, before being driven back to Moshi, marking the end of your 2-day adventure.
