Description
This intermediate-level safari offers ample opportunity to discover the premier wildlife destinations of Northern Tanzania. You will visit Tarangire & Ngorongoro Crater.
Day 1: Today, your journey begins with a morning flight from Zanzibar to Arusha. Upon arrival, a warm welcome awaits you, and you'll be transported to Tarangire National Park to immerse yourself in the wildlife. Your accommodation for the night will be at Farm of Dreams Lodge with lunch and dinner provided.
Spanning nearly 3000 square kilometers, Tarangire National Park is famed for its vast elephant populations and iconic baobab trees. The park is named after the Tarangire River that meanders through its landscape. It is particularly remarkable from June to November, the dry season, when it becomes a magnet for wildlife, including huge herds of elephants, seeking water from the Tarangire River, making wildlife viewing as prolific as in the Serengeti. The park's diverse ecosystems and the permanent water source of the Tarangire River support over 2000 elephants and 500 species of birds, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.
Day 2: Following breakfast, you'll embark on a tour to the crater, exploring the diverse landscapes and wildlife of the Ngorongoro Crater. After your adventure, the journey continues to Arusha, followed by a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your return flight to Zanzibar. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided, with drinking water available for each guest.
The Ngorongoro Crater, often hailed as the eighth wonder of the world, is the world's largest unbroken caldera. Formed around 2 million years ago due to a massive volcanic eruption, the crater's walls collapsed, creating a natural amphitheater over 19 kilometers wide. Its 600-meter-high walls enclose diverse ecosystems, including acacia forests, hippo-inhabited swamps, and vast grasslands. This unique habitat is home to more than 30,000 animals, such as elephants, warthogs, flamingos, an array of bird species, the elusive black rhinoceros, and all major predatory cats.
