ITINERARY 4-DAY KILIMANJARO CLIMB VIA MACHAME ROUTE

Day 01: Moshi/Arusha to Machame Gate – Hike to Machame Camp
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Moshi or Arusha to the Machame Gate. After registration and a briefing, the hike commences through the lush rainforest, where you’ll encounter vibrant plant life and possibly Colobus monkeys. The trail ascends steadily, leading to Machame Camp at 2,835 meters. Enjoy your first night under the stars with the serene mountain atmosphere.

Day 02: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
After breakfast, the climb continues with a steeper ascent as you leave the rainforest and enter the moorland zone. The trail opens to stunning views of the Shira Plateau and Mount Meru in the distance. The trek is relatively short but involves an altitude gain to Shira Camp, set at 3,750 meters. Relax at camp and marvel at the stunning sunsets over the plateau.

Day 03: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barafu Camp
This challenging day involves a trek to Lava Tower at 4,630 meters for acclimatization. After a brief stop, you’ll descend slightly before continuing to Barafu Camp at 4,675 meters. The alpine desert terrain is stark and dramatic, with sweeping views of the summit ahead. At Barafu Camp, rest early in preparation for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak.

Day 04: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Gate
The summit attempt begins at midnight with a steep climb under the starlit sky to Stella Point. After a brief pause, you’ll continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. The trek continues down to Mweka Gate through lush montane forests, where you’ll receive your summit certificate before returning to Moshi or Arusha.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
