Description

Embark on a captivating exploration of the vibrant Soweto township via bicycle, accompanied by our experienced local guides. This immersive adventure promises an enlightening and indelible experience.
"Nothing beats learning about a place than exploring it, and what better way to do it than on a bicycle? Join us as we embark on an excursion that will help you understand one of the places that played an important role in the abolition of apartheid in South Africa.

Meet your local guide at the designated meeting location to begin your tour at the Hector Pieterson Memorial. Your guide will provide a brief history of South Africa, the history of Soweto, and an overview of the current challenges facing its people.

After visiting the Memorial, we'll ride our bicycles to Vilakazi Street, the only street in the world where two Nobel Prize winners have lived. You'll get a taste of Soweto's vibrancy and visit the famous Mandela House and Tutu House.

We then cycle to the first clinic in Soweto, called the Shanty Clinic, where you'll get a glimpse of the health services in Soweto and their improvements over the years.

The cycle continues to the iconic Orlando Stadium, a place that has served as a source of hope and joy for the people of Soweto who were living under the oppression of Apartheid.

Explore the vibrant and resilient lifestyle of the Soweto people when we cycle to the historic Orlando Train Station. Gain insight into the daily lives, traditions, and challenges they faced during the regime.

Continue your journey towards the famous Soweto Towers. Before reaching the towers, you'll have the opportunity to see one of the first brick houses built in Soweto. The towers are known for the beautiful murals painted on them and for the extreme experiences they offer there. They are also a landmark in Soweto.

(Optional) The cycle continues to one of the informal settlements found in Soweto. If you would like to have a short excursion inside the informal settlement you are welcome to do so, if not, we pass the settlement just for sightseeing.

(Optional) From the informal settlement, we normally take our guests to do a beer tasting of the local Soweto beer.

To rejuvenate ourselves after some cycling, we treat ourselves with the mouthwatering Kota also known as the township burger.

After our lunch, we cycle back to the Hector Pieterson Memorial to end our tour.".
