The mountain is part of the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary, a nature reserve spanning 224 square kilometers and characterized by tropical rainforests that surround Adams Peak. This sanctuary was designated as a wildlife refuge on October 25, 1940. Its unique geographical formations distinguish it from other natural reserves on the island.
