Currently under submission for UNESCO World Heritage status, the areas of Vegueta and Triana include many beautiful sights, including the historic Guiniguada Theater, a former movie theater that recently underwent a restoration project.
Walk down cobblestone streets, passing close to the Cathedral of Santa Ana, one of the most important monuments of Canarian architecture. Behind the cathedral lies the Plaza del Pilar Neuvo, a former gathering place for local women to collect water from the central well.
Admire the balconies of traditional houses of the nobility en route to Plaza de San Antonio Abad. Here, you will get access to the Casa Museo de Colón (optional for €4), dedicated to the history of Christopher Columbus and the discovery of the American continent by Europeans.
