Duration:

Description
Step back into medieval times when walking through narrow cobbled lanes, ancient stone stairways, arched passageways, inviting courtyards situated amid antique buildings and historic constructions.
Start at the Eiffel Bridge, designed by the world-renowned architect Gustave Eiffel who created the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris. The iron bridge, famous for its eye-catching red color and ornate grid-like cover, connects the heart of the Old Town with the New City. From this footbridge, you can admire the fabulous views of the charming Onyar River below, lined by picturesque, brightly-colored houses.
Take a stroll through the Jewish Quarter, which dates back to the 12th century and is one of the most well-preserved Jewish quarters in Europe. The fairy-tale labyrinth of cobbled alleyways lined with medieval stone buildings has been used for the making of the series Game of Thrones and TV-themed walking tours to key filming sites.
Next, pass by the Basilica of St. Felix, Girona's first cathedral until the 10th century. The elegant castle-like church which owns a slender bell tower houses some remarkable religious works of art and beautiful stained glass windows.
The next step of the tour is the Arab Baths, which is a well-preserved 12th-century Romanesque construction mimicking Muslim baths. The structure also made an appearance in some scenes of Games of Thrones.
Just a short walk away, you get to see the Cathedral of Saint Mary of Girona, located at the heart of the Old Town. The emblematic colossal construction is a prominent feature of Girona's skyline. One of its main attractions is the iconic wide and high stone stairway leading up to the façade which may be a bit of a climb unless you pace yourself and wear comfortable shoes.
Stop by the German Garden just behind the cathedral, a beautiful rustic garden surrounding the ruins of the old German quarter. This well-shaded and lush green space offers ideal photography opportunities and benches for relaxing.
Leaving the garden, you climb on one of the staircases connecting to the Ancient City Walls, declared Assets of Cultural and National Interest. These are what remain of the old city walls originally built by the Romans between the 9th and 14th centuries to protect Girona. Several towers with spiral staircases attached to these city walls offer the best panoramic views of the city, which makes a perfect end to the tour.
