Learn about russian heritage and russian influence on Belgrade, Serbia and former Yugoslavia.
Join us on exploring the Russian heritage in Belgrade. We'll talk about Imperial Russia's and Ussr's help to Serbia and Yugoslavia during two World wars in front of monument dedicated to Emperor Nicholas II and plaque to Red Army soldiers. We'll discovere architectural gems build by, or paid by, some of so called White Russian emigrants, people who emigrated from the territory of Russian empire in the wake of Russian civil war 1917-1923 and victory of the communist forces turning country into Ussr. Architects like Nikolaj Krasnov, Grigorij Samojlov, Valerij Staševski, just to name a few.
We'll also explore religious connections, majority of people in both countries are traditionally Orthodox Christians. We'll see Russian Orthodox Christian Church of Holy Trinity, from 1925. Important religious, cultural and historical heritage site for local Russian community. This Church is last resting place for general Wrangel commander of white movement forces in Russian Civil War 1917 - 1922.
We'll also see Temple of Saint Sava, largest Serbian Orthodox Cristian Church dedicated to Serbs most important Saint, and find out how Temple as well has some connections with Russia.
