Duration:

Description
It is an amazing sight every winter in Samana Bay, as the humpback whales move from their arctic home to the warm waters of the protected bay of Samana to give birth and mate.
Every year from the middle of January until the end of March you are able to see Humpback Whales in Samana. Samana is considered one of the best places in the world for humpback whale watching. These beautiful and giant marine mammals, come out regularly to the surface to breathe, remain in apnea for about twenty minutes, but can remain underwater for up to forty minutes. Whales come to Samana to give birth due to their whalebone when born, only having a very thin layer of fat so cannot withstand the cold waters. At birth, the calf measures between three and a half and five meters and weighs a ton.
After being collected from your hotel in Puerto Plata, Sosua or Cabarete, make your way to Samana and enjoy the amazing views of the lovely Dominican landscapes. Departing from the dock in the town of Samana, a fast and secure boat will transport you in comfort, in search of whales.
Next, you will head to Bacardi Island, also known as Cayo Levantado. On the island a delicious typical Dominican lunch will be served. After lunch and to complete your wonderful experience you will have the chance to enjoy the turquoise waters and white sand of Cayo Levantado. It is a very long day but really worth to visit.
