Experience the enchanting beauty of a sunrise at Pico do Areeiro with our morning shuttle service from Funchal or Caniço. Please contact us in advance for pickup from other locations.
After a convenient pickup from your accommodation, we will take you to the top of Pico Arieiro, where you can witness an incredible twilight and sunrise above the clouds. Then, you'll embark on a self-guided hike on PR1 to the famous "Stairway to Heaven" and "Miradouro do Ninho da Manta" to enjoy stunning views. After the hike, you will return to the shuttle (1.5 hour for both ways) and be driven to Ribeiro Frio. There, if you're feeling adventurous, you can swim in the cold water that gives this place its name, or take an easy hike to Levada dos Balcões (approximately 1.5 hours round trip). Finally, your adventure ends, and you can relax with some drinks before returning to your accommodation.
IMPORTANT: Please bring warm and waterproof jackets, as the weather in our mountains is very unpredictable and can suddenly get cold.
The entire program starts with pick up at 6 a.m. and should take up to 8 hours, allowing even slower hikers to savor the experience, including break times for coffee, snacks, and some sightseeing.

Be prepared for a challenging hike on PR1 (Vereda do Areeiro), is not suitable for people with vertigo, fear of heights, or low fitness level.
PR11 (Levada dos Balcões) is easy and flat all the way.
When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
