Visit Baía do Negro, in Manadas, where you can see some parts of the English ship “Iriskay” , sunk off the coast in 1945. With no fatalities, the ship was “cleaned” by the locals, with part of its structure remaining at the bottom, close to the coast, at a depth of 2 – 3 m. You can still easily see, with the help of a mask and fins, some pieces scattered across the bottom.

For this activity, you have 2 options: from land or by boat. From land, which is more demanding, you will need a wetsuit, which is provided, as you will need to swim from the port of Manadas, approximately 150 m away.

By boat, it will be a trip from Velas, passing through Queimada and Urzelina, with unique landscapes of the island seen from the sea, observation of volcanic cavities on the slopes, and a visit to some caves. Here, you can also stop and swim inside volcanic cavities (caves).

This boat trip will last approximately 3 hours. By car, it will last 1-2 hours.

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
