Description
Explore the stunning main building of Wroclaw’s University on a 1-hour sightseeing tour. Admire the grand Baroque ceremonial hall. Take in the scenic views of the historic old town and the Odra River from Mathematical Tower.
In 1702, Emperor Leopold I, King of Bohemia, created a university in Wroclaw as a School of Philosophy and Catholic Theology. It was a time of a so-called counter-reformation, launched by the Catholic church to gain believers that had converted to Protestantism a century earlier.
In this “fight for souls,” architecture and art played a very important role. The aim of this tour is to explore one of most precious edifices from the Austrian period - the University of Wroclaw. Admire the grand Baroque ceremonial hall, which hugs the banks of the River Odra, and was named after the school's founder, Aula Leopoldina. Get panoramic city views from the Mathematical Tower.
