Description
Explore the history of the Ghetto in Krakow on this private walking tour. Learn about its creation and what everyday life inside was like, before visiting the historic Old Synagogue. Choose from a basic 3-hour or extended 4-hour tour.
The Kraków Ghetto was one of 5 major metropolitan Jewish Ghettos created by Nazi Germany during the German occupation of Poland in World War II. It was established for the purpose of exploitation, terror, and persecution of local Polish Jews, as well as the staging area for separating the "abled workers" from those who would later be deemed unworthy of life. The Ghetto was liquidated between June 1942 and March 1943, with most of its inhabitants sent to their deaths at Auschwitz Concentration Camp.
On the basic 3-hour tour option, pass through the streets of ghetto territory, viewing fragments of the ghetto walls. Listen to true stories about everyday life, before entering the synagogue that survived the Second World War and is still functioning. Admire the famous Szeroka Street, seeing the Old Synagogue and the original Schindler’s Factory. You will even be able to see where some scenes of Steven Spielberg’s film Schindler’s List were captured.
Upgrade to the extended 4-hour tour option, and include visits to Kazimierz, the Old Jewish Quarter including Temple, Remuh Old Synagogues and Remuh Cemetery.
