Embark on a journey through the storied streets of Puerto Princesa with our Historical Walking Tour. This thoughtfully curated tour brings you face-to-face with sites that reveal the city’s heritage, resilience, and community spirit, showcasing how Palawan’s history has shaped its vibrant culture.

Our adventure begins at the World War II Special Battalion Museum, a space filled with powerful stories and relics from Palawan’s involvement in WWII. Here, you’ll learn about the brave battalions that stood firm against foreign forces, with artifacts that echo the courage and sacrifices of the era.

A short walk from the Museum, we visit the former site of the Philippine First Asylum Center, a historic location that once provided refuge to Vietnamese “boat people” fleeing political turmoil in the 1970s. This site is a reminder of Puerto Princesa’s legacy of compassion, offering a unique glimpse into a lesser-known chapter of the city’s past.

To reach our next stop faster, we will hop on a tricycle that will bring us to the the Palawan Heritage Museum. Here, you can immerse in the art, culture, and history of Palawan’s indigenous and early settler communities. Through interactive exhibits and displays, you’ll gain a rich understanding of the diverse influences that have shaped Puerto Princesa and its people.

Mendoza Park is our next stop, named after Dr. Higinio Mendoza, a WWII hero. The park’s vibrant atmosphere is a testament to the community’s pride and spirit, offering an ideal place to observe local life and traditions in action.

The Palawan Museum provides a deeper dive into the island’s ancient roots and traditional craftsmanship. This museum houses artifacts and insights into the customs of Palawan’s indigenous tribes, connecting visitors with the island’s enduring heritage.

Our tour continues to the Old Market, a lively hub where local goods, produce, and handmade crafts are traded daily. This bustling market offers a sensory experience, revealing the essence of local life and the city’s love for authentic, handcrafted goods.

At Plaza Cuartel, we pause to reflect on a solemn chapter in WWII history. Once a garrison and later a prison, this plaza is now a memorial honoring American POWs who endured great hardship here. The stories of resilience and sacrifice make this stop a poignant experience.

A visit to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral invites you to admire the city’s iconic Gothic-style church. It stands as both a beloved landmark and a symbol of the community’s faith and unity, offering a peaceful moment of reflection.

Finally, we end our journey at Princess Eulalia Park, where you can enjoy the serene beauty of this local favorite. With a view of the city unfolding around you, this park offers a fitting end to our walk, capturing the essence of Puerto Princesa's charm.
