-The Lusong Gunboat, approximately 35 meters long, was one of twelve Japanese supply ships targeted by American forces in a series of airstrikes on September 24, 1944. The ship sank to a depth of 10 meters, resting on its side at an angle. The wreckage is now a haven for divers and snorkelers, offering a glimpse into the region's wartime history and the resilience of nature.
Lusong Coral Garden
-Located near the Lusong Gunboat Wreck, this coral garden is renowned for its vibrant coral formations and abundant marine life.
- The Lusong Coral Garden is a vast underwater landscape teeming with diverse coral species and a kaleidoscope of tropical fish. The area is known for its exceptional visibility, thanks to a strong current that constantly moves, benefiting both the corals and visitors. The current brings in nutrient-rich water, nourishing the corals and fish. For snorkelers and divers, the current creates a drift snorkeling experience, allowing them to effortlessly glide along the reef without needing to kick their fins.
East Tangat Wreck
-This sunken submarine hunter, also from World War II, offers another captivating snorkeling or diving experience. The wreckage sits on a sandy slope near a reef, surrounded by colorful corals and tropical fish. The East Tangat Wreck is a unique and accessible dive site, offering a fascinating glimpse into the region's wartime history and the vibrant marine life that has made it home. Its shallow depth and relatively calm conditions make it a great option for beginners, while the abundant marine life and coral formations provide a captivating experience for all divers and snorkelers.
The East Tangat Wreck is a relatively small vessel, measuring approximately 35 meters long. It's believed that the crew scuttled the ship after an air raid, as it's located close to shore and shows no significant damage. The wreck rests on a coral reef, with its bow starting at a depth of 4 meters and sloping down to a maximum depth of 22 meters.
