From Puno || Route of the Sun from Puno to Cusco ||

Itinerary They say that at least once in a lifetime you have to take the famous Ruta del Sol through southern Peru. They say that everyone who takes this route ends up captivated by the history, landscapes and gastronomy of the Andes. To find out if this statement is true or not, we will meet at the indicated time at number 575 Jirón de Tacna. From this terminal we will depart towards the city of Pukara. What is the legacy of the ancient Andean settlers? We will discover it by visiting the Pukara interpretation centre. In addition, in this place you will find the famous Pukara bulls, clay figures painted in different colours that are a symbol of protection, prosperity and fertility in southern Peru. From Pukara we will continue towards the La Raya pass, where we will make a brief stop to take photos of this impressive mountain pass located at more than 4,300 metres above sea level. After taking the necessary photos in La Raya, we will go to a local restaurant to replenish our energy with a buffet lunch. After lunch we will head to the well-known archaeological site of Raqchi. Here we will see the remains of the ancient temple of the god Wiracocha, a deity whose veneration in pre-Hispanic times is peppered with numerous enigmas, legends and mysteries. After the guided tour of the Raqchi archaeological park, we will head to the town of Andahuaylillas, where we will visit the church of San Pedro Apóstol. Did you know that it is known as the Sistine Chapel of America? Do you think this statement is exaggerated? Then wait until you see the inside of this majestic temple! After eleven hours of hiking, we will finish the Ruta del Sol leaving you at the arrival point.
