In detail:
The Uros islands are a group of 80 islands built with totora, an aquatic plant that grows on the surface of Lake Titicaca. The inhabitants of these islands are the Uros, one of the oldest cultures of the continent, they still preserve many of their traditional customs and live from fishing. They also produce textiles and taxidermy art from wool.
Itinerary:
- The excursion begins with pick up from the hotel (near or within the historic center of Puno) between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning.
- We will embark to the first floating island of the Uros, where we will receive a brief guide and learn more about the local way of life.
- After visiting the Uros, we will continue our journey to the island of Taquile, where we will enjoy spectacular views. Here, we will have a delicious lunch in one of the homes of local families.
- We will explore the area and visit the main square of the island, observing the islanders in their traditional attire.
- Finally, we will return to the port of Puno, arriving around 3:30 pm.
