Discover the history and landscapes of southern Peru by taking the famous Ruta del Sol from Cusco to Puno. An unforgettable journey through the Andes!
We will begin the Ruta del Sol, leaving at the indicated time from Avenida 28 de Julio. An hour later we will arrive at Andahuaylillas. In this beautiful Andean town, we will visit the church of San Pedro Apóstol, a temple considered the Sistine Chapel of America. You will be amazed!
Next, we will head to the archaeological site of Racchi, where we can find the remains of the ancient temple of the god Wiracocha. How was this Andean deity worshipped? What legacy has remained of this sacred cult? What happened to the followers of this deity after the arrival of the Spanish? We will unravel all these questions during the visit.
After this stop, we will stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. The best way to replenish energy before continuing with the route!
With our batteries charged, we will head to La Raya pass, a spectacular mountain pass located more than 4,300 meters above sea level. Photo moment!
Afterwards, we will travel to the Pukara interpretation centre, a place where we will learn about the origins of the Andean civilisation in the highlands.
After eleven hours of hiking, we will finish the Ruta del Sol.
