Description
Ruta del Sol from Puno to Cusco
We will leave for the town of Pukara. What is the legacy of the ancient Andean settlers? We will discover it by visiting the Pukara interpretation center. In addition, this place is home to the famous Pukara bulls, clay figures painted in various colors that are a symbol of protection, prosperity and fertility in southern Peru.
From Pukara we will continue towards the La Raya pass, where we will make a brief stop to photograph this breathtaking mountain pass located more than 4,300 meters above sea level.
Once the required photos have been taken in La Raya, we will head to a local restaurant to regain strength with a buffet lunch. After eating we will travel to the well-known archaeological site of Raqchi. In this enclave we will see the remains of the ancient temple of the god Wiracocha, a deity whose veneration in pre-Hispanic times is dotted with numerous enigmas, legends and mysteries.
Once the guided tour of the Raqchi archaeological park has concluded, we will go to the town of Andahuaylillas, where we will visit the church of San Pedro Apóstol. Did you know that it is known as the Sistine Chapel of America? Does this statement seem exaggerated to you? So wait until you see the interior of this majestic temple!
After eleven hours of excursion, we will finish the Ruta del Sol, leaving you at the starting point.
