Description
Discover the awe-inspiring wonder of Machu Picchu as you embark on an unforgettable journey through the vibrant and verdant Inca jungle
Day 1: Our journey begins in the imperial city of Cusco, where we will depart to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet featuring local delicacies. After breakfast, we will head to Abra Malaga, the starting point for our exciting bike tour. Our guide will provide essential safety recommendations and the necessary equipment for the adventure ahead.
We will embark on a thrilling descent by bike for about three hours, reaching the town of Huamanmarca. During this exhilarating ride, you will be surrounded by snow-capped mountains and lush tropical forests. You will cross small streams and experience the remarkable transition from cold to tropical climate. We will make several stops to check bikes and equipment. Upon reaching Santa Maria, we will enjoy a hearty lunch and settle in for our first night at a cozy hotel. In the afternoon, you can opt for an exhilarating rafting experience on the Vilcanota River, known for its class II+ rapids. Safety gear, including helmets, windbreakers, and life jackets, will be provided.
Day 2: After a hearty breakfast, we will trek towards Santa Teresa. The first two hours involve a steady ascent, providing chances to admire the rich flora and fauna of the area. We will also stop at a local family’s home to learn about their customs and traditions. Continuing our journey, we will cross a segment of the ancient Inca trail, which once connected Machu Picchu to the last refuge of the Incas, Vilcabamba. Our guide will share insights into Inca history and their communication system. We will then descend to Quellomayo, where a delicious lunch awaits, followed by a relaxing break in hammocks at a local restaurant. Afterward, we will hike for another two hours to reach the Calcamayo hot springs, where you can unwind and enjoy the location. Once the group is ready, our private transport will take us to Santa Teresa, where we will spend our second night.
Day 3: On the third day, you will have the option to experience a thrilling zip line adventure with a trusted operator in the area, lasting approximately two hours. Following this, we will travel to the hydroelectric plant, where we will pass through government controls and enter Machu Picchu National Park.
Day 4: Our final day begins with an early breakfast, after which we will trek uphill for 60 minutes to reach the iconic citadel of Machu Picchu. This trek offers stunning views of the cloud forest and natural wonders. You will have nearly the entire day to explore the archaeological complex, guided by a professional. After our exploration, we will take a bus down to Aguas Calientes (not included in the price, but available for an additional fee) or you can choose to walk back down. Finally, we will board the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and transfer to your hotel in Cusco, with an expected arrival around 9:30 PM.
