Description

TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE 2 DAYS ADVENTURE and Lago Sandoval 2 days tour is a journey starts in Puerto Maldonado as we navigate along the scenic Madre de Dios Rive
DAY 01:
PUERTO MALDONADO – SANDOVAL LAKE WALK – MALOKA SANDOVAL LAKE LODGE
Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, we will pick you up at the agreed point. Then we will go to the Tourist Port (Puerto Capitania), where we will board a motor boat for a delicious 45-minute trip downriver to the port of Sandoval. From there we will enter the heart of the Tambopata National Reserve, specifically in the captivating Lake Sandoval.

To reach the Sandoval Lake Lodge, we will embark on a 3-kilometer scenic hike (which can be muddy during the rainy season), which will take about an hour. Arriving at a small port, we will transfer to a paddle canoe and continue our picturesque half-hour paddling experience until we reach the charming Maloka Sandoval Lodge. Upon arrival, you will receive a warm welcome with a refreshing locally flavored juice. After a brief hostel orientation, you'll settle into your comfortable accommodations.

After a well-deserved rest, we will embark on an exciting night walk through the forest, equipped with flashlights or headlamps. This nocturnal adventure offers the opportunity to observe fascinating creatures such as the night monkey (Musmuqui), frogs, snakes and other active insects. We will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night in this calm and serene environment.

DAY 02:
SANDOVAL LAKE LODGE - PUERO MADONADO - EXIT
Rise and shine for an early morning adventure as we embark on a canoe ride on captivating Lake Sandoval. Our goal is to glimpse some of the most notable and endangered species that call Sandoval Lake Lodge home. One such iconic species is the giant river otter, also known as the river otter, which thrives in small, close-knit family groups. These magnificent creatures, considered the largest otters in the world, are very territorial and can be seen hunting and fishing in the lake during the early morning hours. It is truly a sight to behold as they consume a staggering 4 kilograms of fish every day.

After breakfast, we will say goodbye to the Tambopata National Reserve and retrace our steps back to the port of Sandoval Lake Lodge, located on the banks of the Madre de Dios River. Our trusty boat will be waiting to transport us back to Puerto Maldonado.

Once we arrive in Puerto Maldonado, you will have the opportunity to repack your belongings before your guide escorts you to the airport. As your unforgettable trip comes to an end, take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary experiences and memories you have created in the pristine rainforest of Peru's Tambopata region.
