Description
Embark on an adventure at Sandoval Lake with kayaking, canopy tours, and zip-lining. Stay in jungle cabins, spot wildlife on boat rides, enjoy all meals, and relax by the pool.
Day 1
Upon arrival at the airport or bus terminal, you'll be greeted and transferred to the office for necessary registration. If you don’t need all your luggage in the jungle, you can store it there. Visit the Plaza de Armas and Plaza Grau's viewpoint to admire the confluence of the Madre de Dios and Tambopata rivers.
At 8:30 a.m., board a boat at Puerto Acosta to travel down the Madre de Dios River for about 30 minutes to reach the Lodge. After meeting the staff and settling into your room, you'll head to the adventure center.
Canopy
Take a walk through the forest to the 35-meter high Canopy Tower, built at the base of a majestic Lupuna tree. From there, you can observe various birds and enjoy the natural landscape while the guide explains the local flora and fauna.
Zip-line
After the canopy walk, experience the zip-line. The guide will instruct you on how to use the harness and safety equipment. You'll glide along a 190-meter zip-line, cross a 100-meter bridge, and return on another 190-meter zip-line. After returning the equipment, you’ll head back to the Lodge for lunch.
Lunch and Kayak
After a hearty lunch, relax in the hammocks. Later, enjoy a kayak adventure starting from the Lodge, with a safety boat following the group. This is a great opportunity to swim in the Madre de Dios River and unwind.
Monkey Island
Visit Monkey Island, 15 minutes downstream from the Lodge. You’ll see and feed various monkeys, including Capuchin, Black Howler, and White-faced monkeys. Return to the Lodge around 4:30 p.m.
Caiman Spotting
In the evening, join the caiman spotting activity. You’ll take a boat equipped with a spotlight to search for caimans along the riverbanks. You may see white caimans, dwarf caimans, and, with luck, large adult caimans. After the activity, return to the Lodge for dinner at 7:30 p.m. and discuss the next day's activities.
Day 2
Breakfast
Enjoy a breakfast of fruit juices, regional coffee, eggs, pancakes, fried plantains, and more to fuel up for the day.
Sandoval Lake
At 9:30 a.m., cross the river by boat to reach the Sandoval Lake Control Post in the Tambopata National Reserve. After registration, walk approximately 3 kilometers for about 1 hour. You’ll have the chance to see a variety of flora and fauna, including birds, monkeys, rodents, and reptiles. At the lake, enjoy a typical jungle lunch, followed by a boat ride to spot birds such as hoatzins, cormorants, anhingas, and, hopefully, playful river wolves. After the lake activities, return to the Lodge to prepare for departure.
Return to the City
The return time to the city will be coordinated with the office. You'll be informed of the departure time to ensure you arrive on time at the airport or bus station.
