Puerto Maldonado: 4-Day Amazon Jungle Adventure

Day 1:
Start your tour with a pick-up service at Puerto Maldonado Airport. Your guide will be waiting for you right in front of the exit with a sign with your name on it so you can easily find it. Drive or boat to your jungle house, located on the Tambopara River. Check in at your cabin and then set off on your first jungle excursion.

Walk about 2 kilometers through the jungle in search of monkeys, brown agoutis, and butterflies while learning about the trees and plants that grow there. When it gets dark, begin your nighttime adventure on the river to go in search of caimans and capybaras.

Day 2:
The next day, visit Sandoval Lake, located in the heart of the Tambopata National Reserve. Here, observe the many species of birds, caimans, turtles, monkeys, and giant otters that live here. Return to your accommodation for a short rest before embarking on your next nighttime activity.

Later, head into the jungle at night, following your guide through the dark jungle in search of night monkeys, tarantulas, frogs, insects, and other nocturnal animals.

Day 3:
Embark on a kayaking adventure, heading downriver to Monkey Island. When you disembark on the island, take a walk in search of monkeys and observe them in their native environment. Enjoy the opportunity to feed them and take photos with them.

After lunch, visit a local indigenous family and learn about their culture and way of life.

Day 4:
Start your last day fairly early and head to the clay lick to see parakeets, parrots, and 2 species of small macaws. On the way back, look for sloths. After breakfast, your guide will take you to the perfect spot for bird watching and take you sport fishing for piranhas.

Around 11am, return to the main office, where you will be taken to the airport or bus station and your tour will conclude.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
