Live a unique journey of Amazonian forests, lagoons, rivers, experience indigenous peoples, native communities and the greatest biodiversity crisscrossed by rivers of the Amazon tropical forest.
Before booking the excursion, ask about tour availability. Day 1: Cusco - Cloud Forest - Pilcopata Lodge We will leave Cusco very early in the morning in one of our vehicles. We will cross beautiful valleys between the Andes Mountains and picturesque rural communities. We will visit pre-Inca tombs of the Lupaca culture and then we will stop in Paucartambo, a beautiful colonial town, and visit the interesting museum of the town. On the way we will have lunch in the cloud forest. We will continue our descent through the cloud forest, an area rich in endemic species, such as the Spectacled Bear and the Cock of the Rock, a Peruvian national bird that performs a unique courtship ritual. We can also observe orchids, bromeliads, ferns, etc. We will continue observing the spectacular nature along our route until we reach our hostel, Pilcopata Inn, where we will spend our first night. Day 2: Pilcopata - Amazon Manu Lodge We will have early breakfast and then visit a coca plantation and a wildlife rescue center. Then we will go to Puerto Atalaya, located on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River at 500 meters above sea level. Here we will begin our descent by boat to observe the enormous diversity of bird species, such as herons, vultures, cormorants, etc. until you reach Amazon Manu Lodge. There we will have a delicious lunch before walking to Lake Machuwasi, where we will ride balsa rafts to observe birds, such as the primitive hoatzin and, with luck, alligators, monkeys and capybaras. Overnight at the hostel.Day 3: Amazon Manu Lodge - Cusco Early in the morning, we will board our boat and head to the macaw clay lick, a wall along the river bank where different species of parrots are found, such as the blue-headed parrot, the white-eyed parakeet. , chestnut-fronted macaw, among others. The parrots gather here every morning. Here they eat clay, which is rich in minerals and helps them digest and eliminate toxins from the body. After a delicious breakfast, we will pack our bags and travel by boat back to Puerto Atalaya, where our bus back to Cusco will be waiting for us. We will have lunch on the way back to Cusco, where we will arrive at approximately 6:30 pm. This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
