From the heights of Cusco to the depths of the mysterious cloud forest, this journey will take you to discover the natural beauty and rich biodiversity of the region
Day 1: CUSCO - CLOUD FOREST - HARPY LODGE
Leaving Cusco very early in the morning in our comfortable bus. Ascending to the high mountain area of Paucartambo. On the way we visited the funerary towers or chullpas of Ninamarca. The bus then descends through the mysterious cloud forest filled with beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. Stopping to give you the opportunity to witness the mating ritual of the Cock of the Rock (Peruvian Rupicola). There are also chances to spot the Amazonian umbrella bird (Cephalopteros Ornatus), trogons (Trogon sp.) and many more. Hopefully the only South American bear, the Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon we arrive at the town of Atalaya, where we take our boat 30 minutes along the Alto Madre de Dios River to our typical lodge. Showers and toilets available.
Day 2: HARPY LODGE
After a delicious breakfast in the morning the group organizes to walk to our viewpoint to observe the villages around the river and walk inside the jungle around the Lodge where you can see many species of birds, insects and many other small animals Night in Lodge. Shared showers and toilets.
Day 3: HARPY LODGE – PARROT LINK – LAKE MACHUHUASI
Very early in the morning. We take the boat for approximately 25 minutes to the parrot clay lick, where we can see green parrots and also some birds or small animals. After seeing parrots we will return to Lake Machuhuasi where there are rafts to go across the lake for 2 hours. Where you can see other species of birds such as hoatzin, then we will walk another hour into the jungle. Night at the Lodge. Shared showers and toilets.
Day 4: HARPY LODGE – ATALAYA – CUSCO
After a delicious breakfast unfortunately we will come back by boat to the port Atalaya after that we will take the bus to return until Cusco.

When should I book?

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
