Description
You’ll begin at the Andean grasslands, taking in the majesty of their natural beauty. From there, you will travel to the vast Amazon Basin, a haven of biodiverse life.
Day 1 of our Manu Jungle Tours will begin with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We will set off on a journey from the Andes to the Amazon in our private transport. The first stop will be the Andean town of Paucartambo. The local culture and traditions, still untouched by modernity, will be the subject of our tour guide’s explanations. We will resume our journey, heading towards the picturesque viewpoint, of Tres Cruces. Located at an altitude of 3900 meters (or 12795 feet), this viewpoint offers a staggering view of the Amazon basin. We will then descend the hill, driving you to the Manu Cloud Forest. A short tour here will allow you to spot the Peruvian National Bird, the Andean Cock of the Rock. Our ensuing location of interest shall be the Santa Cruz Port. Here, a small motorboat awaits you to take you to our exclusive family-owned Treehouse INN. Upon arrival, our team will welcome you warmly. A typical native meal will be served for lunch. Post-lunch, our Manu Tours Peru officially kick-starts with a hike. During this hike, you will encounter various regional plants and bird species. As the sun sets, we will return to the Treehouse for dinner.
The second day of our Manu Jungle Tours starts early. We will depart Treehouse INN before dawn. Our destination is the Macaw Clay Lick, just a short boat ride away. It’s crucial to be there early to catch the birds’ unique activity. Upon arrival, you will witness hundreds of vibrantly colored parrots and Macaws. They flock to the clay cliffs to consume its mineral-rich clay. This clay aids in flushing toxins from their bodies. Our guide will explain the details of various bird species. You will have ample time to appreciate this extraordinary spectacle. Once satisfied, we will return to the lodge for breakfast. We will be serving a hearty traditional breakfast at the lodge. Post-breakfast, we’re off for a hike on an exclusive trail. Expect to encounter more native birds, flora, and fauna during this expedition. By lunchtime, we’ll head back to the lodge. We will serve a traditional Amazon Peru lunch. After refueling, we plan to spend the afternoon river tubing in the Palotoa’s crystal clear waters. As evening sets in, we will visit a local indigenous community. You’ll gain firsthand insights into the lifestyle and culture of Amazon’s native inhabitants. As the Amazon sunset paints the sky, we will return to the lodge. The evening concludes with a campfire dinner, creating a cozy end to an adventurous day.
The final day of our Manu Jungle Tours begins with a traditional native breakfast at Treehouse INN. Once breakfast concludes, we will board a boat. This journey shall transport us back to our original point of departure, the Santa Cruz pier. Our driver will be awaiting us at the Santa Cruz pier. From there, we will journey back to Cusco by car. We will travel through the awe-inspiring cloud forests and the quaint town of Paucartambo.
