Description
We offer local tourism in Tambopata with hiking, river sunsets, flora and fauna observation, and adventure in the National Reserve. Our cabins are next to Sandoval Lake, promoting sustainable tourism.
Sandoval Lake
We start at our office and head out by boat, a 40-minute ride on the Madre De Dios River. Arriving at the Tambopata National Reserve, just 5 minutes separate us from the entrance to Sandoval Lake.
The hike covers 3 kilometers (1 hour), along a clean trail that crosses a well-preserved bridge, taking us to the lake where we will be able to spot:
- Up to 4 species of monkeys
- Snakes
- Tarantulas
- Tropical birds
- Parrots
- Mammals
At the end of the hike, a canoe awaits us to explore Sandoval Lake. We sail along the right bank in search of wildlife, spotting tropical birds on the shores, herons, caimans and the emblematic 2-meter giant river otter, symbol of Madre De Dios.
At 1:00 pm, we enjoy a lunch prepared by Luis and his family, with typical food such as juane and regional refreshments. After a brief rest in the hammocks of our lodge, we return to the canoe to continue exploring, looking for more wildlife and monkeys that usually jump along the banks.
At 4:00 pm, our boat awaits us on the Madre De Dios River for the return to Puerto Maldonado.
