Description

Exploration in Tambopata with hiking, sunsets on the river, wildlife, zip line and guided walks by locals. Nature and sustainability in our cabins by the Sandoval Lake.
1D/PUERTO MALDONADO - TAMBOPATA COLLPAS
- Arrival in Puerto Maldonado, the capital of Madre de Dios, followed by a 2.5 hour bus ride by boat to the lodge. A local welcome drink and a brief orientation to the lodge will be offered.
- Awaiting you is the Collpas Tambopata Inn, a spacious and cozy eco-lodge with bar, pool and buffet service, located on the edge of the Tambopata National Reserve. It is the most secluded lodge in Puerto Maldonado, surrounded by monkeys and various bird species.
- Accommodations range from 24 m² rooms to 68 m² suites with private bathrooms and jungle views.
- The stay includes three meals a day, teas, coffee, excursions and guided activities, as well as refreshments on arrival and transfers to and from the airport. Our guides are assigned in small private groups with a ratio of 10 people per guide.
- In the afternoon, you can participate in a two to three kilometer hike through a primary forest, with information on important medicinal plants and the opportunity to spot seven different species of monkeys and a variety of birds, making this jungle walk a memorable experience. A visit to our 50-meter tower completes this first experience.
- You will also have the option to embark on an evening boat ride to observe black caimans along the Tambopata River, an incredible experience to see these reptiles in their natural habitat.
2D/ENJOYING THE CHUNCHO MACAW CLAY LICK
- In the Amazon, early activities are ideal for enjoying wildlife in the morning freshness, even on vacation.
- Throughout the year, macaws and parrots congregate on the riverbanks in a colorful, National Geographic-inspired spectacle, especially noticeable in the dry season. We watch from a discreet distance as macaws and parrots come down to ingest clay at dawn.
- Kayak down rivers and streams to spot capybaras, turtles and waterfowl in a two-hour activity.
- Amazonian nights are unique, with active insects and the opportunity to see frogs, spiders, tarantulas and snakes in an exciting night outing.
3D/SANDOVAL LAKE FULL DAY!
- We return to Puerto Maldonado and have breakfast at the Tambopata Lodge. Then, we head to the port for another cruise to Sandoval Lake, a famous oxbow lake in the Tambopata National Reserve. After 40 minutes by boat, we walk 3 km through the forest to the lake, with opportunities for bird and monkey sightings.
- There is a 40% chance of seeing giant river otters. Lunch on the shore of the lake.
- The expedition comes to an end, with a direct contribution to Wired Amazon and the Tambopata National Reserve.
- Return to the city to take the bus or head to the airport for domestic flights.
