Description

We explore trails in the forest, sunsets on the river, and adventures such as zip line and canopy. Discover Tambopata with local guides, promoting sustainable tourism in our cabins by Sandoval Lake.
DAY:
We are located in the heart of Lake Sandoval. From our office, we sail 40 minutes down the Madre de Dios River to the Tambopata National Reserve. After a short 5-minute walk, we enter Sandoval Lake for a 3 km (1 hour) hike, where we will see monkeys, snakes, tarantulas and tropical birds, including parrots.

At the end, a canoe takes us to our rustic cabins exploring the lake, where we spot tropical birds, herons, caimans and the imposing 2-meter giant otter, symbol of Madre de Dios. We enjoy a typical lunch (juane) with seasonal refreshments in the cabin, followed by a deeper exploration of the lake by canoe.

We rest in the canoe to admire the unique sunset on Lake Sandoval. We search for caiman or teach you how to find your own black caiman. Return to the lodge for dinner and rest.
2 DAY:
We start early at 5 am with the search for yellow and blue macaws in the parrot clay lick, unique in Madre de Dios. We return to the lodge for breakfast and search for giant otters. Then we visit the 30 m tower on Sandoval Lake and optionally fish for piranhas. After lunch, an interpretative flora walk with centenary trees and medicinal plants. For those who still have energy, a night walk reveals spiders, tarantulas, frogs, toads, nocturnal animals, monkeys and snakes.
3 DAY:
At 5 a.m., we head to Sandoval Lake in search of a giant otter. We experience the Amazon sunrise as we depart for Puerto Maldonado. In the morning, we admire the breathtaking views of the Madre de Dios River. Before departing, we enjoy a nutritious breakfast with organic ingredients. Our guide and team appreciated our visit to this part of the Amazon. On the way back to Puerto Maldonado in an outboard motor canoe, we had time to relax and wait for our bus back home, depending on the departure time.
