Departure from Iquitos : City Tour-Visit to the Belen Market

At 9:00 AM, we'll gather on the bustling Antonio Raimondi Avenue to commence our comprehensive exploration of Iquitos. Throughout the journey, we'll uncover the city's main attractions situated along the banks of the Amazon River, delving into its rich history.

We'll stroll through Iquitos' historic center, marveling at grand mansions adorned with European tiles brought during the rubber boom of the late 19th century, which once brought immense wealth to the city.

Our walk will lead us to the iconic Casa de Fierro, a structure designed by Gustave Eiffel, the architect behind Paris' famous tower. Next, we'll visit the Museum of Amazonian Indigenous Cultures, where we'll admire handicrafts, textiles, and other artifacts from various ethnic groups in the region.

Our next stop on the Iquitos tour will be the Belén Market, where we'll immerse ourselves in local life, observing the bustling activities of the city's residents. Fruits, fish, meats—you'll find it all here!

Following lunch at a local restaurant, we'll board a minibus and head to the outskirts of the city to visit a manatee rescue center. Here, we'll learn about the dedicated efforts of volunteers working to protect these aquatic mammals from extinction.

The tour concludes with a visit to Quistococha Zoo. This park is home to a diverse array of Amazonian species, including jaguars, monkeys, tapirs, caimans, snakes, and macaws—offering you an up-close encounter with these magnificent creatures!

We'll wrap up the excursion at 5:00 PM back at the starting point.
