Country: Peru
Duration:
09:00 hours
Description
On this excursion to the Pacaya Samiria National Park from Iquitos we will discover the wild side of the Amazon jungle of Peru. Birds? Mammals? Fish? You will be surprised by its biodiversity!
At the indicated time, we will pick you up from your hotel in the center of Iquitos or from the airport to board a bus that will take us to Nauta, a pleasant town in the province of Loreto.
This hour and a half journey will allow us to reach two very well-known rivers in this area: the Marañón River and the Ucayali River. Once there, we will equip ourselves with life jackets before getting on a boat that will make our way through its waters.
On this relaxing walk we may see a sloth hugging the immense trees of the jungle or a colorful bird crossing the Amazon sky. With luck, we will be able to observe the gray and pink dolphins that cross the place.
Is anyone hungry? During our boat ride we will regain our strength by eating a delicious meal. This lunch is based on a typical food from the region known as 'Juane'. It has a combination of chicken, egg, olive and a special preparation of rice, all wrapped in a green bijao leaf.
Before we know it, we will have entered Pacaya Samiria National Park, a protected area of more than 20,000 square kilometers, the fourth largest in South America. Inside, there are about 208 villages from 56 indigenous communities that live thanks to the natural resources of the reserve.
The rainiest seasons cause the arrival of species of lizards, taricayas and charapas. In the warmer months, we will have the opportunity to see birds, monkeys and amphibians, all of them in their natural habitat. We will have the opportunity to contemplate the giant trees that surround the area and be surprised by their luxuriance.
After nine hours of excursion, we will return to your hotel, ending the activity.
