Description
The monkey island located in the Amazon River is a destination that certainly deserves your attention during your trip to Iquitos, to enjoy pleasant moments with the friendly monkeys.
Known as Monkey Island, this sanctuary houses various species of primates with the aim of rehabilitating and protecting them in their fragile condition, with the goal of releasing them into the wild once they have recovered. For those who love nature and animals, an excursion to this ape sanctuary and a visit to Monkey Island offers an ideal plan, even for those who wish to contribute as volunteers during their stay at the reserve.
We start our trip by picking you up at the pier of the Iquitos Boulevard in the morning. Then, we will sail first on the Atalaya River and then on the majestic Amazon River. If the time is right, we will have the opportunity to spot pink dolphins along the way. Arriving at Monkey Island, we will explore its varied fauna and flora, interacting with the resident primates. The return trip is made by sailing back down the Amazon River, concluding our tour with a spectacular sunset in this wonderful Amazonian region.
