From Iquitos: Pacaya Samiria - 3 Day Amazon Jungle Tour

Day 1:

After being picked up from Iquitos, board a bus to Nauta. Once there, head to the Marañón River, one of the main tributaries of the Amazon River that runs through Pacaya Samiria. Hop on a boat and cruise along the river for 3.5 hours. Admire the deep canyons that the Marañón has carved out.

Arrive at the campsite and check into your tent. Enjoy a typical Peruvian meal before continuing your journey through the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. After dinner, take a boat ride to Lake Huaylla. Be amazed by the vastness of the lake and see some of the species that inhabit it, such as herons, shanshos, camungos, and river dolphins.

Take a walk at night to see tarantulas and listen to the songs of the birds and other nocturnal animals. Learn to identify which animal makes each sound. Return to the campsite and rest in your tent.

Day 2:

After breakfast, head back into the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve to set up camp for the night. Immerse yourself in nature and discover the species of flora and fauna that grow in the jungle. Look up and see the birds that fly over the jungle, such as the yellow-headed parrot.

The Amazon jungle is home to sloths and different types of monkeys. If you're lucky, you might see some of these animals climbing the tall trees that crown this immense ecosystem. Before concluding the day, take a boat ride at night to see caimans, turtles, or anacondas in their natural habitat.

Day 3:

The third and final day of the tour is dedicated to fishing, a practice of the native Americans. Enjoy a day of fishing for piranhas. After breakfast, head back into the jungle to see the exotic birds and landscapes one last time.

Return to the campsite to enjoy a delicious meal. With your energy replenished, board a boat to Nauta, where you'll take a bus back to Iquitos.
