Description

On this excursion to Nauta and the source of the Amazon River from Iquitos we will visit a beautiful Peruvian town and learn about the origin of the largest river in the world.
Itinerary
We will pick you up at 9:00 a.m. at your hotel in Iquitos, and from there we will travel by road to Nauta, a cozy town located in the Peruvian province of Loreto.

During the route we will cross the wetlands and forests of the lush Quistococha National Tourist Park. We will also pass through the shamizales and varillales with white sandy soil in which the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve is located. This is a privileged place for the observation of avian fauna, including several dozens of endemic species.

At 10:30 a.m. we will arrive in Nauta, one of the main river ports of the Peruvian Amazon. We will take a tour of the city and the Sapi Sapi lagoon. This place is home to animals such as the taricaya turtle, the crocodile and the paiche. In addition to animals, this lagoon holds secrets about mythological creatures. What beings have fed the stories of the lagoon? What is its origin? We will find out!

We will take a break to recharge our batteries with a picnic lunch. Afterwards, we will take a leisurely ride on the Marañon River in a motor boat. This trip will take us to the confluence of the Ucayali River, the source of the Amazon River.

After a two-hour trip, we will arrive at the town of Grau, where we will enjoy extraordinary views from the Amazon Viewpoint. After contemplating the panoramic views, we will return by boat to Nauta.

Finally, from Nauta we will return by road to Iquitos. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled at 17:30 hours.
