Description
Explore the ancient wonders of Peru with a journey to the Q'eswachaka Inca bridge and the stunning circuit of four lakes near Cusco.
Very early in the morning between 4:00AM and 4:30AM, we will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco. We will start our journey and drive towards the district of Quehue in the Canas province. After a 3-hour drive, we will enjoy a nutricious breakfast and finally visit the last remaining Inca bridge!
The Q’eshuachaka bridge, also spelled Q’eswachaka, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site woven from an Andean grass that only grows in high altitudes. In the ancient Inca Empire, there used to be around 200 Inca bridges. Only one such bridge remains now: Q’eswachaka, over 100 km from Cusco. Like many of these bridges, this one was destroyed during the Spanish conquest. The Inca bridge is renewed every year in June during an ancient ceremony celebrated in the local communities closeby. We will have enough time for taking photos and enjoying the fascinating landscape of this incredible place. Our local guide will teach us about the history of the bridge and the Incan culture. After this visit, we will take our transport for one more hour until we reach the circuit of 4 lakes (which include Pomacanchi, Acopia, Asnaqocha and Pampamarca). Here we will enjoy our lunch with a beautiful view of one of these lakes. We will also have time to explore and take in the incredible nature of this amazing place. Finally, we will return to Cusco, where you will be dropped off at Plaza Regocijos.
