An opportunity to connect with nature and explore the flora, fauna and Inca ruins. Enjoy an unforgettable hike along the Inca Trail, witness to the grandeur of the past.
Day 1: Piscacucho Km 82 - Wayllabamba (10 km)
Departure from the hotel at approximately 6:00 a.m. towards Piscacucho (2650 masl), known as Kilometer 82. From this point we start our hike from the checkpoint. We will pass through some flat terraces and arrive to Miskay (2800 masl), then we will continue the trail to Wayllabamba, our first campsite (3000 masl). Here we can enjoy beautiful views of the Vilcanota River and the diversity of flora and fauna. On the opposite side of the Urubamba River we can see the snow-capped Veronica (5832 m.a.s.l.).
- Overnight camping in Huayllabamba.
Day 2: Wayllabamba - Warmiwañusca (10 km)
After an energetic breakfast, we will continue the hike (considered the most demanding). We will travel narrow and steep trails uphill. As we ascend, the landscape changes (high and dry land, with little vegetation). We will reach the top of the mountain, called Warmihuañuska (pass of the dead woman), crossing a forest inhabited by various species such as sparrows, finches (local birds) and numerous species of the Andes. After the pass, we will descend to the Pacaymayo valley (3600 m.a.s.l.).
- Overnight camping in Pacaymayo.
Day 3: Pacaymayo - Wiñaywayna (16 km)
We will continue hiking until we reach the Abra de Runkurakay. In the morning, we will explore the archaeological complex of the same name, a small structure similar to a watchtower. We will descend to Yanacocha (Black Lagoon) and enter the cloud forest to reach Sayacmarca, a beautiful complex with a semicircular building, narrow streets, liturgical fountains, patios and irrigation canals. Then, we will follow an easy climb until we reach the Abra de Phuyupatamarca. During the hike, we will admire the work of the ancient Incas, pass through an Inca tunnel and arrive at the most complete and preserved archaeological complex, located at the highest point of the mountain. Phuyupatamarca means "The cloud over the city". Finally, we will arrive at Wiñaywayna, where we will camp.
Day 4: Wiñayhuayna - Machu Picchu (6 km)
We wake up at 04:00 am in Wiñayhuayna to descend to Inti Punku (Sun Gate). It will take approximately one hour to reach the point from where we can enjoy the sunrise over the city of Machu Picchu. From Inti Punku, we will descend to Machu Picchu, with a walk of about 40 minutes. Once in Machu Picchu, we will enjoy a guided tour of approximately 2 hours and a half. After the visit, we will have free time to explore the citadel or climb Huayna Picchu Mountain, from where you can admire breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and mountains, as well as visit the famous Temple of the Moon and the Inca Bridge. In the afternoon, we will walk back to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time to enjoy your lunch. After lunch, we will take a train back to Cusco, depending on the train departure time.
