Itinerary and Key Features:
DAY 01
Cusco | Challacancha - Soraypampa - Humantay Lake - Sky Camp
Your thrilling 2-day journey kicks off with an early pick-up from your Cusco accommodation. After a nourishing breakfast in Mollepata, we make a short stop in Challacancha. The trek to Soraypampa, our campsite, offers a gentle introduction to the altitude, featuring a scenic route alongside an Inca canal.
Upon arrival at Sky Camp, nestled before the majestic Salkantay and Humantay mountains, you'll be greeted with a delicious lunch. After some relaxation, we embark on an afternoon hike to Humantay Lake (4,200 m / 13,780 ft). The gradual ascent ensures you adjust to the altitude, rewarding you with a breathtaking view of the jewel-like lake against a snowy backdrop.
Return to Sky Camp for a delightful dinner and stargazing session, where your guide will share Inca astronomy. Sleeping in your igloo with a roof view of the constellations caps off this unforgettable day.
DAY 02
Sky Camp Salkantaypampa - Salkantay Pass - Soyrococha - Soraypampa - Cusco
The highlight of today is conquering the Salkantay Pass and witnessing breathtaking mountain scenery. After a nourishing breakfast, we'll gradually ascend through the challenging "Trail of the 7 Snakes" to reach the impressive Salkantay Pass at 4,630 m/15,190 ft. Take your time to capture memorable photos and savor the incredible landscape.
Following this awe-inspiring moment, we'll descend through unique stony terrain to our campsite for lunch. You'll be rewarded with incredible views along the way, including a distant glimpse of the snow-covered forest of stones.
After lunch at Sky Camp, we'll take a short break before a 30-minute journey to board our transport. This final leg offers numerous photo opportunities of valleys, mountains, rivers, and farmland. Finally, we'll return you to Cusco for a well-deserved rest at your accommodation.
