The tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel at 3:40 am to ensure a crowd-free experience. You will travel in a comfortable van, embarking on a 2.5-hour drive through picturesque towns like Izcuchaca and Limatambo. Along the way, there will be a stop in Mollepata for a delightful breakfast.

After another hour of driving, you will arrive at Soraypampa, a beautiful location situated in the lush Apurimac River valley at an altitude of 3,900 meters (12,795 ft) above sea level. Here, you will be greeted by the majestic Salkantay mountain, which is the second highest peak in the Cusco region.

From the trailhead at Soraypampa, you will begin your hike to Humantay Lake. The trail offers stunning views of the awe-inspiring Salkantay and Humantay glaciers. The hike to Humantay Lake takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, with the latter half being steeper as you approach the turquoise-colored lake.

Throughout the hike, you will be treated to panoramic views of snow-capped mountains, diverse flora and fauna, and breathtaking natural landscapes. Once you arrive at Humantay Lake, which is located at an altitude of 4,230 meters (13,878 ft), you will have ample time to marvel at its serene beauty and soak in the tranquil atmosphere.

For those seeking even more stunning vistas, there is an optional 15-minute uphill hike to another viewpoint overlooking Laguna Humantay and the majestic Apu Humantay mountain, which stands at an impressive height of 5,480 meters (17,979 ft).

After immersing yourself in the beauty of Humantay Lake, you will descend back to Soraypampa, where the hike began. Following the hike, you will enjoy a delicious lunch in Soraypampa or Mollepata. Then, a private transport will take you back to Cusco, with an estimated arrival time of approximately 6:00 pm.
