Head to Mt. Ausangate for a full day of trekking with stops at beautiful lakes and amazing panoramic viewpoints. Soak in cozy hot springs as you look out over the Peruvian highlands.
Get picked up by your professional guide from your Cuzco accommodation from 4–4:30 am. Make the 3-hour drive to Pacchanta all bundled up with extra warm sweater, jacket, hat and gloves as morning temperatures in the area range from 5–9°C. Stop for breakfast and any last minute things you forgot to buy in Cuzco like water and snacks.
From Pacchanta, take in your first views of the magnificent Apu Ausangate Mountains, rising 6,384 meters above sea level. Take some time to prepare your day pack and then begin the 1.5-hour trek to the first of the Ausangate Lakes. Hike at a comfortable pace along the steep terrain with a small-group and attentive guide who will look out for your safety.
Then trek back to Pacchanta where a fortifying local lunch awaits you. Once you've refueled, hop in the nearby hot springs and relax as you take in incredible views of the surrounding highlands. Arrive back in Cuzco between 6 and 7 pm.

Please be aware that you will trek over 4,800 meters above sea level
Pickup service is included. It can take 30 to 45 minutes to pick up the group. If you are one of the first ones to be picked up, it might take some time to collect the entire group.
During your trip, extra expenses like entrance fees, water, souvenirs and others are only available to pay with cash and Peruvian soles
Bring an extra warm sweater, jacket, hat, and gloves
If for any reason you rent a horse, the local partner doesn't manage these rentals and won't be involved in the process
Sunglasses are mandatory to use throughout the hike
The local partner is not responsible for the change of weather conditions; choose the best day of departure based on research
The dirt road is not in the best conditions; the drive can produce altitude sickness. It's recommended to bring personal medicine or altitude pills
Everyone walks at different speeds. The guide will be in different parts assisting the group
When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
