Explore the amazing one-and-only Vinicunca, better known as Rainbow Mountain, on a cultural day tour from Cusco. Drive out of the city and walk through stunning hills, villages, and local wildlife.
Your full-day tour begins in Cusco city, where you will be picked up between 4:00 AM ,After that, you'll travel to Qollasuyo.
We will arrive at Checacupe and then arrive at the town of Pitumarca,
After that, we walk passing beautiful landscapes and lagoons where alpacas, llamas, vicuñas, puma, Andean birds, condors, etc. live in a walk of 3 ½ hrs approx. until the Vinicunca Pass (5,200 m.s.), from where we will have an impressive view of the Cerro Colorado, which with the sunrise shows its impressive valley and hills of magical colors.then We will observe mountains such as the Apu Sarinini and the Ausangate Mountain, the highest in Cusco (6,372 meters above sea level)
The Community of Chillca, constituted by shepherds of llamas and alpacas, is known as the guardian of these Andean places
Every year, on the north side of Ausangate, the festival of Qoyllur Rit’i has been celebrated since time immemorial, where faith is impressive as dancers from different parts of Peru arrive.
At the end of the day: Return to Cusco.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We recommend you to spend at least 3 days in cusco to acclimate. You will hike over 4300m (14,100ft) and is about 16 kilometers in length (9.9419 miles) in total length, with an elevation gain of 715m (2,260ft). This hike is difficult because of altitude.
You must be reasonably fit for this activity, however; horses can be rented for part of the trip. Please note: the local operator does not offer this service, it must be arranged privately. Horses will take you to 200 meters from the top, then you will finish the climb. Price: 70 to 90 Soles, round-trip, cash only
A walking stick will be provided
The walk takes about 3 hours
Road mostly flat, except the ascent to the top, where it is very steep
Bring extra food and water. Breakfast and lunch are included but are basic due to the remoteness
Entrance to Rainbow Mountain is not included and should be purchased on-site at 30 PEN for tourists and 20 PEN for Peruvians
The number of visitors is limited to reduce crowds
You are required to bring and wear a mask
You will receive a mandatory temperature check
The pick-up will be at your Accommodation
When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 48 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 48 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
