Description

We will explore the sillar stone quarries on this tour from Arequipa. We will see impressive landscapes and also visit the town of Yura, famous for its hot springs.
We will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. at your hotel in Arequipa and we will prepare to take one of the most historic itineraries in Peru, the Sillar Route. To do this, we will first travel to the Añashuayco Quarries, the place of origin of this stone.

Once there, we will learn everything related to ashlar, essential to know the history of this area of the country. In addition to contemplating this curious natural landscape, full of enormous facades carved with colonial carvings, we will see local masons working with stone.

We will appreciate the laborious process of carving ashlar stone blocks, made with ancestral tools. A very traditional task! Afterwards, we will visit the Quebrada de las Culebrillas, a practically virgin corner where we will see how air and water have eroded the landscape.

After exploring these enclaves, we will go to Yura, where we will visit its beautiful church from the colonial era. In addition, we will stop at a viewpoint in the area to contemplate the beautiful Andean landscapes of the area. Next, we will go to the Yura hot springs, where you will have a free hour to tone your body and mind.

Finally, we will return to your hotel in Arequipa.
