From Arequipa: Excursion to Salinas Lagoon

The paths around the Misti Volcano will take you to a magical place, where the salt waters generate a mirror of water between the mountains.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa (Historic Center) between 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. to begin the journey to Salinas Lagoon, located on the border of the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve. During the journey we will make a stop in Chiguata, a typical town in the area, to have a continental breakfast that will consist of juice, mate or coffee, cereals and toast.

We will delve into nature to discover the flora and fauna of the Arequipa region that surrounds the Salinas Lagoon.

We will only have to look up to discover that we are at the back of the Misti volcano. Did you know that it is one of the 10 active volcanoes in the area?

During the journey we will see an Andean forest made up of small trees and bushes. In this area they call them queñuales!

Finally we will arrive at the Salinas Lagoon. If it is dry, it will greet us with a snow-white color. And if there is water, we can approach the shore to see the large amount of salt it accumulates. Did you know that it is the only lagoon where you can see three types of flamingos? In addition, alpacas and llamas will accompany us during our walk around the lake.

We will be able to explore the vicinity of the lagoon and the area of the Lojen volcano, as well as some thermal baths. After the walk, we will leave you free time for lunch and then we will return to Arequipa.

We will drop you off at your respective hotels around 4:30 p.m.
