From Arequipa: Excursion to the Colca Canyon | 2 days

Day 01: Arequipa - Chivay

Early in the morning we will pick you up from the hotels in the centre of Arequipa. We start our journey to one of the deepest and most beautiful canyons in the world. Our first stop will be the village of Chivay, which we will reach in approximately 04 hours, counting all the tourist stops. As first point we will pass by Pampa Cañahuas, where we will be able to observe the vicuñas that live in this area, continuing we will visit Patahuasi to drink the traditional Mate de coca, an indispensable traditional drink for the altitude sickness (soroche). Then we will make a short stop at the Bofedales de Toccra where we will observe a large number of Alpacas grazing freely in the area. An obligatory stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, this is the highest point of the road that reaches 4800 meters above sea level.
We will arrive in Chivay to enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch we will settle into our respective hotels. During the afternoon we will be able to enjoy a relaxing bath in the thermal waters (optional entrance fee) whose thermal medicinal waters oscillate between 35º C to 38º C of temperature in the pools.
For dinner (Does not include food) we will enjoy a folkloric show with typical dances of the area and we will have a well-deserved rest in Chivay.


Day 02: Viewpoint of the Cross of the Condor

In the morning after breakfast we will go to the Mirador de la Cruz del Condor, which is located 30 minutes away, it is the observation point of the Colca Canyon and the spectacular flight of the Condor. At this point we will spend an average of 45 minutes to observe the beauty of the Colca Canyon.
On the way back we will stop at the viewpoints of the area from where we will observe the impressive Andenería of the Valley and in the village of Maca, where we will see its church and optional taste of drinks of the area as the Colca Sour, we will have lunch in Chivay. At approximately one o'clock in the afternoon we will be returning to Arequipa city and we will leave you near the main square 5 pm approximately.
