Arequipa / Tour of the Sillar Route y Culebrillas Canyon

Discover the ancient work of the artisan stonemasons who work the sillar stone and explore a canyon sculpted by the flow of water on this excursion to the Culebrillas Canyon from Arequipa.
The excursion will start with a pick-up from your hotel in Arequipa at the time of your choice. From there, we will drive along the Uchumayo road to the sillar stone quarries, where we will take a guided tour to learn about the ancestral work of the stonemasons, whose hand-carving technique is crucial due to the fragility of the stone in this region. This material comes from the lava of the volcanoes that surround Arequipa and is fundamental in the local architecture.

Afterwards, we will walk for approximately thirty minutes until we reach the impressive Culebrillas Canyon, a ravine shaped by the natural action of water over time. Here we will enjoy a walk among its imposing rock walls of between 15 and 20 metres high and have the opportunity to capture spectacular photographs. We will also explore ancient petroglyphs, mysterious symbols carved into the rock.

After a four-hour excursion, we will return to the centre of Arequipa, where the activity will end near the Plaza de Armas.
