On this excursion from Huaraz, you will explore a mysterious place located between the Peruvian rivers Huachecsa and Mosna: Chavín de Huantar. You will discover its history during your visit.
Itinerary:
At 9:30 am we will pass by your hotel in Huaraz and board a minibus to Chavín de Huántar, a two-hour drive.
On the way, we will stop at the Querococha Lagoon to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Then, we will continue to the archaeological site of Chavín de Huántar.
Once there, we will explore all the vestiges left by this culture. We will discover fascinating curiosities, such as the use of psychotropic substances by the priests to get closer to the gods. We will also visit the Obelisk of Tello, the Portico of the Halconides and the sunken circular plaza.
We will learn about the gods worshipped by the Chavin and their customs. After the visit, you will have free time in the village for lunch on your own around 14:00. After refueling, we will head to the National Museum of Chavín to delve into the myths, legends and enigmas of Chavín de Huántar, which will surprise you.
We will be back in Huaraz around 18:30.
