We extend our stay in Carhuacocha to further appreciate the surrounding mountains and take a day hike through a side valley that passes near the impressive peaks of Yerupajá and Siula Grande, discovering three glacial lakes, each remarkably unique in their shades of blue or green. Occasionally, we witness avalanches breaking off the glaciers and falling into the lakes

e climb steadily along a well-marked trail until we reach the Punta Carhuac pass, where we have a good chance of spotting the viscacha. Day 5: Mitucocha - Rondoy
We leave our campsite and head towards the Cacanampunta pass, located at 4750 meters above sea level. From this high point, we will be delighted with the impressive view of the other side of the valley and we will have the chance to see majestic condors gliding over the pass.
