Description

We will visit Maras, where the most important salt mines of the Inca period are located, and the archaeological site of Moray, which is an Inca agricultural research center.
Day 1 Excursion Maras Moray Salineras

The tour begins with pick-up from the hotel and then a 1 hour and 20-minute tour to our first place of visit. During the journey we will appreciate snow-capped mountains, lagoons, corn and potato fields.
The first place Moray (agricultural laboratory) where we can see circular Andean terraces that are carved in the depths of the earth, in the shape of a bowl, were used for the adaptation of products to different climates.
After visiting Moray we will go to "Salineras" or "salt de Maras". This town is formerly known as a salt producing center and is believed to date back to pre-Inca times.
We can find more than 3,500 salt ponds strategically carved into the mountainside and filled with water channels.
On the way back to Cusco we will pass through a picturesque town "Chinchero", the birthplace of the rainbow, this town is characterized by still preserving the Andean weaving technique.
